top 10 faqs
1 - IS MY DATE AVAILABLE?
This should always be the first question you ask. Unfortunately, we cannot always say yes. We are, however, extremely proud of the working relationships we have with several other companies in our area; proud enough to stake our own reputation on them.
These are not your every day, run-of-the-mill references.
M.C. FISH ENTERTAINMENT, INC. would be more than happy to refer you to these "friends".
If you would like, we'll even make the calls for you.
We take an enormous amount of pride in this business and want to see you get great entertainment for your event, rather than your co-worker's cousin or worse yet, no entertainment at all! Keep in mind that the longer you wait to book ANY of your vendors, the bigger chance you take of hitting roadblocks and having to “settle.”
The best rule of thumb for getting everything you want is to BOOK everything you want as soon as you set your date! Prime days are Saturdays, of course and Sundays, when part of a three-day weekend. In the Northeast, prime wedding months are September and October. June is prime for graduations. July and August are prime months for teachers. December and January are most often booked for holiday parties. If you are planning your event for these times, no time is too soon to book. Most people will book a year or more in advance to be sure to get what they want!

3 - ARE YOU THE ENTERTAINER WHO WILL APPEAR AT MY EVENT?
Yes! As a matter of fact, your DJ’s name is written into the contract as the entertainer to appear. You spend months and most times a year or more, planning your event. You will NEVER be surprised by who shows up!
4 - DO YOU BRING BACK-UP EQUIPMENT TO MY EVENT?
Absolutely! This is a no brainer! However, time and time again we hear horror stories about equipment failure that affects the excitement or flow of an event. Have you ever had your car break down? An appliance? Your computer?
Of course you have.
We all do our best to maintain our toys, but sometimes things happen.
M.C. FISH ENTERTAINMENT, INC. maintains what we like to call "on-board" back up as well as "tag-along" back up. "On-board" back up is equipment that is built into the system and is ready at an instant should a piece or two become disabled during your event. "Tag-along" back up is equipment that is available should catastrophic equipment failure occur. Although not quite as extravagant as the original system, it is a complete system in and of itself and can replace every piece of the original. It may take a few minutes to set this system up, but a twenty-minute break in the action sure is better than no entertainment at all!

5 - WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
M.C. FISH ENTERTAINMENT, INC. uses only professional, state-of-the-art, concert-grade, "road worthy" sound and light equipment.
This is not equipment you purchase at your local electronics chain store. This is not to say that your "home" stereo is not a fine quality unit. It is just not built to withstand the rigors of constant moving, bumpy roads and temperature changes. It also may sound great in your living room, but how does it sound in a room the size of a concert hall?
Both our sound and lighting are computer-driven and are constantly upgraded to meet our strict standards.
For a complete list of equipment and/or specs, please inquire.

6 - DO YOU PLAY MY REQUESTS?
YES! And your guests too!
It’s YOUR party.
7 - HOW WILL YOU DRESS FOR MY EVENT?
M.C. FISH ENTERTAINMENT, INC. staff will always appear in formal wear (a tuxedo or suit).
We dress as though we are a guest at your event.
You'll never see us in golf shirts, jeans or sneakers.
There are, however, exceptions. But these only come at your instruction.
For example, a beach, backyard, pool, picnic or block party
may look a little odd with a tuxedo-clad entertainer especially if all your guests are in shorts and tank tops!
But, unless you say so, a tuxedo it is!
8 - ARE YOU INTERACTIVE WITH MY GUESTS (TEACH DANCES, MOTIVATE)?
Well, we certainly get asked this quite a bit! And there really is no definitive answer. Some people are looking for a more subdued event. You may have been to an event where the DJ just stood or sat behind a sound system and did no more than play music. In their defense, ask the person who hosted that event if they requested this type of entertainment. There are events where the host does not need a Master of Ceremonies (M.C.) or supplies their own and basically just requests a good quality sound system and a “human jukebox”. We do offer this type of service as we are called upon quite often for fashion shows or awards dinners where music and sound effects are important but dancing is not. However, the majority of those people who are looking for a DJ are doing so to offer their guests a "party-type" atmosphere with personality and someone to motivate. Sometimes that means just verbally and sometimes that means initiating dances, games, gags, etc. It depends on what YOU are looking for!
OUR job is to match YOUR style! Regardless of which style you prefer, we're never there to be the spotlight. You are always the star!
9 - HOW MUCH AND WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE?
In 1985 Dave (M.C. Fish) began work as a DJ/M.C. at some of the hottest nightclubs throughout New York's Hudson Valley where he was "discovered" by a New Jersey-based entertainment company.
This is where he learned the ins and outs of weddings and events.
In 1992, M.C. FISH AND ASSOCIATES was formed. A copy of this business certificate remains on file with the Orange County clerk’s office in Goshen, NY [Certificate # 2220/92]. In 2007 we incorporated to become M.C. FISH ENTERTAINMENT, INC. All staff are personally trained by and are under the direction of David Fischer.

10 - HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE AND DO YOU REQUIRE A TIP OR A MEAL AT MY EVENT?
Of course, price is always based on the number of hours, the number of systems required (ceremony, cocktail, reception or other segments
of your event which may take place outside of the main room or area) or other extras you may want.
Location can also be a factor. Generally, anything beyond a 120 mile radius may require an additional charge.
However, the price that is quoted you is just that…a quote.
Call anytime to receive a personalized quote for your event.
It is all-inclusive (computer-driven sound, lights, etc.) and has no hidden charges whatsoever.
As for a meal or tip, we require neither.
Both are nice and if they fit into your budget, we thank you in advance. As with any service where a tip may be offered, if you feel that we have gone above and beyond what you expected, a gratuity would be welcomed, but is never required.
